In short
- WES does not translate. Its translation page says documents that are not in English must be translated into English for the United States. For Canada, only documents that are in neither English nor French need translating.
- The translation must be done by a professional, never by the applicant, and must be complete and follow the original word for word.
- Transcripts must be sent to WES by the institution that issued them. You upload the copies of the degree certificate and its translation yourself.
- At CamerTrad: 10,000 FCFA per page, fixed. A diploma and one transcript is 2 pages, 20,000 FCFA. WES decides what it accepts.
Who needs it, and when
WES evaluates qualifications earned abroad, notably for immigration or study in Canada or the United States. If you hold a Baccalauréat, a degree, a Master’s or a GCE earned in Cameroon, you will go through an evaluation.
Translation comes after you have opened your file and read the list of documents WES requests for your qualification. Do it before you upload, but not before you have checked what WES expects: a translation ordered too early can turn out to be useless.
The WES pages we read do not give the exact list of documents for Cameroon. It sits in WES’s “Required Documents” tool, which can only be read once you are in your account. Check it there.
The documents involved
The “Diploma and transcripts” page explains what to send CamerTrad for the translation.
- Diploma and transcriptsDiploma and transcripts: the two papers WES evaluates. Translate them together, with every back that carries text, a stamp or a note.

The steps in order
This is the sequence that follows from WES’s own pages. Translation is step 3.
- 1
Open your account and choose the evaluation
Create your WES account and choose the type of evaluation. Types and prices are on WES’s “Credential Evaluations and Fees” page.
- 2
Read the document list for your qualification
In your account, the “Required Documents” tool shows what WES asks for given your country and qualification. Note what the institution must send and what you upload yourself.
- 3
Have the right documents translated
Send CamerTrad a photo of the official documents. The sworn translator translates them in full, in the same order as the original, and puts their seal on the result. You receive a PDF.
- 4
Ask the institution to send the transcripts
WES says academic documents such as transcripts reach it from the issuing institution, in a sealed envelope on paper. Contact your university or school.
- 5
Upload the copies
In your WES account, upload legible copies of the degree certificate and the translation, as PDF or JPEG, 10 MB at most each. WES asks for copies, not originals.
What WES says about translation
According to the page “Translation Requirements for a WES Credential Evaluation” and WES’s help centre:
- For a United States evaluation, any document that is not in English must be translated into English. For Canada, translation is asked of documents that are in neither English nor French, into English or French.
- The translation must be done by a professional translator: a university, a certified translation agency or another professional service. The applicant cannot translate their own documents. The page names no specific certification; the help centre, for Canada, speaks of a “certified translation”.
- WES rejects handwritten translations, translations made from photocopies, incomplete translations and those the applicant made themselves.
- The translation must be word for word, in the same order as the original.
- WES asks for no original documents and does not return them.
These pages say nothing about legalisation, apostille or notaries. If your list mentions any, follow it.

Mistakes that cost time
- Translating before reading the list: you translate papers WES does not expect, or you miss one.
- Having a photocopy translated. WES rejects translations of photocopies: photograph the official document, not a copy of a copy.
- Forgetting a back or a page. An incomplete translation is rejected: a back with text, a stamp or a note must be translated.
- Names spelt differently between diploma, transcript and passport. Tell us in your first message: we copy each paper’s spelling.
- Asking the institution too late. Since it must send the transcripts, ask it right away rather than after the translation is done.
- Expecting the translation to convert marks. We translate marks out of 20 as written. The evaluation, and any equivalence, belong to WES.
What CamerTrad does, and what it does not
Our translations are done by a sworn translator of the Centre Court of Appeal. We translate your documents in full, with the translator’s seal, and hand them over as a PDF.
We do not create your WES account, we do not submit your file and we do not advise on which evaluation to choose. WES sets its own requirements, and we cannot promise it will accept a translation: check the current list on the WES website.

Price: a priced example file
10,000 FCFA per page, fixed. A diploma and a transcript make 2 pages. If you have one transcript per year, each page counts. A back counts if it carries text, a stamp or a note.
WES’s fees are separate and are paid to WES. Any paper parcel is at the client’s expense. The translation total is quoted on WhatsApp before you pay.
Send a photo of your diploma and transcripts: the quote spells out the pages before any payment.
