Business document translation Cameroon: which papers, and why
Company papers travel further than personal ones: articles of association, the trade register extract (RCCM), the tax registration certificate, minutes of a meeting, a lease, a sales or distribution contract, a bank certificate, a power of attorney.
They are used to open an account abroad, answer a tender, sign with a supplier, raise funds, register a subsidiary, get a business visa or defend a case in court.
The direction depends on your partner. A Douala firm trading with the UK or the US translates into English. A firm in Buea or Bamenda dealing with Libreville, Paris or Ouagadougou translates into French. Tell us which way, and who the document is for.
Where business document files go wrong
Forgotten pages. A contract is read in full: annexes, general terms, amendments, signature pages. Translating only the body gets the file refused or, worse, leaves a clause untranslated.
Legal terms. “SARL”, “gérant”, “capital social”, “siège social” have common equivalents. Where a term has none, we keep the original in brackets. We do not rewrite your clauses.
The company name. A registered name is not translated. We keep it as is and translate only the legal form if you want that. Tell us the form your partner expects.
Figures and amounts. An amount in FCFA stays in FCFA. We add no conversion and no exchange rate. Separators follow the target language.
Confidentiality. A commercial contract is sensitive. It goes only to the translator in charge and is deleted from our phones and mailboxes on request, by a simple WhatsApp message.
What to send us
- The full documents: every page and every annex, in order.
- For a contract, the signature pages and initials, visible.
- Company, notary or registry stamps, readable.
- Any terms your partner imposes: the company’s name in the other language, its trading name.
- The country and body receiving it, and your deadline if you have one.
- A contact for questions: the translator may need a clarification.
For a long contract, one PDF beats twenty photos. If photos are all you have, send them in order.
Price and turnaround for business documents
10,000 FCFA per page, fixed, whatever the nature of the document. A one-page certificate costs 10,000 FCFA. A ten-page contract with two one-page annexes is twelve pages: 120,000 FCFA.
The standard turnaround is 48 hours between French and English for a short document. For a long one, the quote gives the time before you pay.
The total is quoted on WhatsApp before you pay.
After the translation
You receive the sealed PDF, and paper if the recipient asks, posted or collected by appointment in Yaoundé.
Depending on the country and recipient, company documents may also need legalisation, notably at MINREX, or another form of registration. We decide none of that and we quote no fee or timeline: ask your partner, bank or embassy what is required.

Do I have to translate the annexes of a contract?
Yes, unless the recipient says otherwise. An untranslated annex leaves part of the contract unreadable. Each page counts in the quote.
Can you translate an RCCM extract?
Yes. It is a short document, often one page. Send it whole, with the stamps.
Do my company documents stay confidential?
